Transmission:
With 5- and 6-speed automatic transmissions, oil and filters should be changed every 100,000 km (62,000 miles) under normal use. Use a reusable gasket when installing for simpler operation and ease of subsequent maintenance. This type of gasket also seals much better, as the pan tends to leak/sweat.
When filling the transmission via the dipstick, the vehicle should be on a level surface, with the engine running. The transmission should be shifted through all gears, eventually shifted into neutral to check the dipstick with the engine running. CAUTION: Use the parking brake, as the vehicle may roll away!
With heavy use, the transmission service interval can be shortened by 30% to extend its lifespan.
